Why is it called Woven Winds?
Woven wind is what traders called fine cotton muslin two thousand years ago; in Persia it was baft-hawa, woven air. Ours is double cotton gauze, the same idea with a second layer, so it's breathable without being see-through
What is cotton gauze?
Cotton gauze is two fine layers of pure cotton, woven together and pre-crinkled so it's light, soft and full of air. You might know it as double gauze, cheesecloth or muslin. It's 100% cotton with zero elastane and zero polyester, which is exactly why it breathes when everything else clings.
Is cotton gauze see-through?
Double gauze is two layers, so it's less sheer than you'd expect for something this light. In strong sun the palest shades can still be a touch see-through.
The Gabriela Maxi Dress is fully lined and will keep you covered from head to toe.
For the paler skirts and dresses a pair of Chub Rub shorts underneath does the trick.
My order arrived creased. Is that right?
Yes, and that's the fabric doing its job. Cotton gauze is pre-crinkled on purpose: it's where the softness and the airflow come from. A quick steam sorts any packaging folds, but please don't iron the crinkle flat on the gauze pieces.
The Gabriela Maxi Dress is the one exception and is happy to be steamed or ironed due to being made from a lined cotton voile.
How do I wash and care for it?
It's machine washable: just follow the care label. A light steam brings the gauze pieces back to life afterwards, and there's no need to iron them flat.

Does it stretch? How do I pick my size?
It doesn't stretch, and that's on purpose: it's woven cotton, not jersey. The give is built into the making instead, with a deep shirred waistband on the trousers, an adjustable wrap skirt and relaxed, over-the-head shapes on the dresses. Both tops are cut with room for bigger busts. Check the size guide and the garment measurements on each product page to pick your size, from UK 4 to 38.
Will it shrink?
It's 100% cotton, so wash it cool and it'll keep its shape and its size. Follow the care label, skip the hot wash and the tumble dryer, and it'll be the same piece three summers from now.
How long are the trousers and the maxi dress?
The trousers come in one length, cut to sit well whether you wear them high or low on the shirred waistband. The Gabriela Maxi Dress is a true maxi at 5'4" and under, and sits nearer the mid-calf if you're taller. Both have real pockets.
Is it good for hot weather and holidays?
About as good as it gets. 100% cotton gauze moves air around you instead of trapping it, so you stay cool when the sun is at its worst. It's light, it packs down small, and every piece works with every other, so five things in the case make a week of outfits.
Is it sensory-friendly?
If tight waistbands and scratchy synthetics are a no for you, this is made for exactly that. The waistbands are encased soft elastic or shirring, so nothing digs in, and pure cotton means no cling and no scratch. Everything layers on and off as the day heats up, with nothing tight anywhere.
What do I wear under the skirts and dresses?
